An ideal geographical situation for those who wish to get to know the heart of Andalusia or for those who are looking for comfort and tranquility. Osuna (like Carmona and Écija) is one of those small Andalucian towns which are great to explore in the early evening: slow in pace and quietly enjoyable, with elegant streets of tiled, whitewashed houses interspersed by fine Renaissance mansions. The best of these are off the main street, c/Carrera, which runs down from the central Plaza Mayor, and in particular on c/San Pedro which intersects it; at #16 the Cilla del Cabildo has a superb geometric relief round a carving of the Giralda, and further along the eighteenth-century Palacio de los Marqueses de Gomera - now a restaurant - is a stunning Baroque extravaganza. There's also a marvellous casino - with 1920s Mudéjar-style decor and a grandly bizarre ceiling - on Plaza Mayor which is open to all visitors and makes an ideal place for a cool drink. Osuna, known as the Turdetani Urso, extends along the slope of a small hill which served as a watchtower over the extensive fields of olive trees and cereals in the Sevillian countryside. Its long history has left a legacy of interesting monuments and artistic works from the various cultures that settled here. Osuna is an excellent place to enjoy the gastronomy and traditions of the area. Among the latter are the Holy Week celebrations declared a Fiesta of National Tourist Interest in Andalusia. During this week the streets are decorated and the century old carvings by masters of baroque religious images such as Juan de Astorga, José de Mora or Juan de Mesa are taken through the streets. "Really Nice Hotel, very kind & friendly Staff, excellent Restaurant, good Manager! Last March during my stay I could see three Sevillian Operas at the gardens of the Hotel Palacio Marques de la Gomera, "Carmen", "Don Giovanni" & "El Barbero de Sevilla". Great Experience!" |

Just 20 rooms, each one different, the furniture is just exquisite, thick windows do not allow the little noise from outside to get in, beds are excellent. I stayed at one of the suites in the tower with a balcony surrounding it 4x4 and the view is spectacular. Price is reasonable and the staff is very professional. It is kind of a mixture between a Parador and a country house. Highly recommended." "I chose the Palacio Marques de la Gomera Hotel based on various reviews and my expectations were exceeded by the quality of the accommodations, helpfulness of the staff and good location (heart of Andalusia). The hotel made my stay in Osuna all the more enjoyable and I would gladly stay there again!" "This 4 star hotel was the best during my 3 week holiday in Spain. Very good staff, very good service, a real palace with all the rooms different from each other, the tower, the balcony, etc. Rooms with jacuzzi, views, attics, all the furniture and linens are special." |
