During the Festival d'Avignon in July and the beginning of August, it is the place to be. An exceptional geographic location and the mildness of its
climate make Avignon an extraordinary city. City of art and
culture, Avignon is the ideal base for visiting Provence. You can
make excellent excursions in the region and discover magnificent
sites and monuments. "My husband and I stayed in Le Clos du Rempart for 4 nights over Christmas and it was wonderful. This beautiful guest house is inside the city walls and walking distance to everywhere in Avignon. Our room - Saphir was warm, clean and comfortable, we had a view over the courtyard and the roofs of the surrounding buildings. Aida is such a lovely host, she made us feel like we were staying in a friend's home, and our chats over the delicious breakfast were always enjoyable. Aida recommended a couple of places for us to eat on Xmas Eve and Christmas Day and booked a table for us at this busy time, she was so helpful. If we were to travel to Avignon or the South of France again we would definitely stay here." "Le Clos du Rempart is impeccably decorated and maintained - our large room looked over the courtyard and was just delightful. Aida is so friendly and helpful, at the ready with maps and advice and able to answer any of our questions. She recommended 2 outstanding restaurants to us as well. This was our first B&B experience, usually choosing smart hotels. For one third of the price, we had an unforgettable welcome stay in Avignon. If we return to Avignon, we will definitely stay with Aida again." "The beauty of the home interior--the interlacing of Middle Eastern and European art, tiles, and space--is a perfect reflection of Mme. Assad's love of art, her deep kindness, and cultured perspective on the world. Mme. Assad (Aida to her guests) is fluent - truly fluent - in numerous languages as well as fluent in her understanding of Avignon. Her superlative recommendations for restaurants and even driving routes were unparalleled and were tailored very much to our desire to enjoy Provence at its traditional best." "Madame Aida was a thoughtful hostess, giving a full breakfast each morning, and great suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing options. Her English is impeccable and she was more than willing to help me polish up my weak French. My room was comfortable, nicely decorated and had a large bathroom with a terrific tub and shower. I saw the other room and the apartment as well, both of which are terrific. This makes a great base for visiting the Provence area. Avignon is lively and there is lots to see in the surrounding area. Clos du Rempart would be a wise choice." |
"Le Clos du Rempart and her proprietor, Madame Aida Assad, won our hearts from the moment we unloaded our luggage from 2 weeks travel/conference in Brittany and Paris. This was heaven. We thank you, Aida, from the bottom of our hearts." |
General Information: Welcome to Le Clos du Rempart B&B ... a 19th century house completely restored in 2001 and transformed into a charming bed & breakfast. Le Clos du Rempart is located right in the heart of Avignon old town, a few minutes walking distance from the Popes' Palace and the famous Pont d'Avignon. Nothing would lead you to believe that behind its imposing walls hides a secret patio, planted with Provencal plants and whose friezes remind you of Andalusia or the Middle East. The comfort, the space, the luminosity of the rooms and the pure peace, disturbed now and then by the birds singing, are what will first impress you.

However the best part of Clos du Rampart is Aida herself. She is a warm and welcoming host that gave us valuable advice on traveling in Avignon and the surrounding region. I know we saved hours of time and visited better places thanks to Aida. I hope to return to this area and my first phone call will be to reserve a room from Aida. If anyone is traveling to Avignon, this is the place to stay." "It is impossible to describe how wonderful this place is and likewise, how outstanding the owner, Aida, is. We just returned from an 11 night stay in Avignon and Clos du Rempart. The room and bathroom were just beautiful, very large, and immaculate. The rest of the house is charming, extremely well appointed yet very comfortable. We lived in luxurious comfort; yet we felt completely welcome and at home because of Aida's generous nature. She is kind, knowledgeable and strives to be sure that her guests have everything they need." "My husband and I spent five nights at Le Clos du Rempart in September, and can only echo all the superlatives that have been written before our stay, and after. We were so fortunate to have made that choice, as we not only loved our stay there, but also fell in love with Avignon. Aida went out of her way to help us with restaurant choices and reservations, sightseeing tips, and arrangements for pickup by our tour guides." |
