Activities/Attractions: You can hike or ride for hours, having the countryside to yourselves. There is a large lake nearby. The villagers are friendly, and the area is very safe. Be forewarned: life at the hacienda is so enjoyable that you may not want to do all those other things that you had planned!

"Both Art & I were just blown away by the house. You have beautifully brought it back to its grandiose splendor. We toured the unfinished parts and have no doubt that what ever your plans are, they will be wonderful. Art loved every room, the great details in the bathrooms & all the books you have around. I absolutely loved everything! Your staff is just the best, so nice & willing to help. Art doesn't particularly care for Mexican food (in the States), but once he tried Yolanda's caldo & salsa, he was hooked. He particularly enjoyed the mango, so fresh & sweet. And then Juan kept forthcoming a nice supply of beer, so he was a happy camper. That said, I know we will be back for more days, to fully enjoy the house, the peace & quietness, go horseback riding, lounge in the pool & become plump & content on Yolanda's food. So much to do, so little time. Thanks a million & we'll be in touch."

I can't believe what you have done, and done it so well. The staff is looking after our every need. Alejandro is a great chauffeur. We want to go in to SM tomorrow night for live music. General Information: Welcome to Hacienda Las Trancas ... ideally situated in a small village midway between San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, Mexico. Our location allows you the freedom to explore a different colonial town every day. Upon opening the gates to your private domain each morning, you look across the square to the lovely ancient church, watch the slow comings and goings of daily village life, and step out onto the silver trail.

The hacienda  is comfortably elegant, furnished with colonial antiques and locally-made pieces, luxurious bedding with high thread-count linens and feather beds or down-alternative beds atop high-quality mattresses, down duvets, fresh flowers, robes, amenities basket, and nightly turn-down service with fine, locally-made Belgian chocolates.

• our water is purified, and each bedroom is equipped with hot-and-cold bottled-water dispensers

• a 12-person full-time staff includes cooks, housekeepers, gardeners, bilingual manager, massage therapist, stable and pool personnel, and 2 hacienda cats

The kitchen is the heart of the hacienda. Our food is brought fresh to the table every day and is what we hear again and again when our guests are raving about the cuisine. We harvest from our organic gardens as the food is being prepared.
