Activities/Attractions: Chateau de la Couronne is on the edge of the delightful little village of Marthon just where the Charente meets the Dordogne. A typically French village with a small river running through its centre, it is disarmingly friendly and welcoming. Complete with castle ruins and a beautiful church, the village has a boulangerie, boucherie, small supermarche and a tabac, ideal for a gentle stroll when the relaxing gets too much.
There are 2 restaurants within a 5 minute walk, and recommendations given for many more local restaurants within a 10 mins drive.
This is perfect gentle cycling country with many on and off road tracks in the area ... advice and maps provided. Also nearby:

Guests can relax throughout the day and evening in the principal rooms of the chateau which open onto the sunny terrace, within the beautiful landscaped grounds. Outside are five acres of private parkland, complete with a 14.5 metre heated swimming pool with poolside drinks service. When the sun gets too much, the huge salons in the chateau are yours to use all day and into the evening.
General Information: Welcome to Chateau de la Couronne ... a unique place to stay in south west France, on the borders of the verdant and sunny Dordogne and Charente regions. Far from an ordinary chambre d’hote, Chateau de la Couronne is more a boutique hotel, designed with flair and individuality.
Offering bed and breakfast, it gives a warm welcome, and an atmosphere that is relaxed and inspirational. This imposing chateau of 16th century origin has recently been refurbished by its new owners, providing:

Payment Terms:
A deposit equal to 30% of
the total room rate is required to secure a reservation.
The balance, plus any additions, is payable on departure.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations may be made
at any time, however they must be confirmed by mail or email.
Cancellations received less than 10 days prior to the arrival date will incur
loss of deposit.
